Reciting at a tempo

I was curious as to the tempo (also know as pacing) at which a stream of spoken numbers would be relaxing but not dull. I’ve uploaded several proof-of-concept (POC) tracks that I manually edited to compare tempos of 1.0, 1.2 and 1.5 seconds per spoken digit. I originally thought 1 second would be best – perhaps because it’s a nice, round number – but listening to a POC track at that tempo, it sounded rushed. The 1.2 second tempo sounds ideal to me, while the 1.5 second tempo sounds painfully slow to my ear.
